How Old Do You Have to be to Work at PacSun?

If you are interested in working at PacSun, you must be at least 16 years old to apply for the position of sales associate. Jobs available for those 18 and older include Leads and Assistant Store Manager.

Sales Associate  (Hourly)

Sales associates at PacSun are responsible for generating sales and executing initiatives and tasks assigned by the leadership team. Their number one priority is to provide exceptional customer service and to be a positive member of the store team.

Job responsibilities include reflecting the PacSun brand by demonstrating passion for their products, brands, fashion, and trends, adhering to the Employee Appearance Guidelines, being a productive team member, and exhibiting core values and behaviors.

They are also expected to participate in store contests and events, stay current on store financial goals, and assist the leadership to team in achieving those goals.

You will spend the majority of your time folding clothes, running the register, and helping customers.

To work as a sales associate at PacSun, you must be at least 16 years old.

Lead (Hourly)

Leads at PacSun assist the store in driving results through exceptional knowledge of products, brands, fashion and trends, a passion for Drive for results and being in the business during peak periods. The Lead also ensures consistent operational task execution, coaching, and development of Sales Associates, assists the Store and Assistant Manager by consistently providing exceptional customer experience and being a positive example to the Sales Associates.

The Lead may also be used for building of merchandise displays and other visual tasks. The Product Lead assists the Store and Assistant Manager in the behind-the-scenes aspects of managing the store, to ensure a consistent focus on customer experience during business hours.

You must be at least 18 years old to work as a lead at PacSun. You must also have previous retail experience and a high school diploma or GED.

Assistant Store Manager  (Hourly)

The Assistant Store Manager at PacSun assists the Store Manager in leading a customer focused, top-line sales driven, profitable, and productive store location. The Assistant Store Manager must also inspire and motivate others by exhibiting core value behaviors—including a customer-focused, selling culture and ensuring the execution of the Store's KPl's.

Assistant Managers also must hold store employees accountable to following all policies and procedures, prioritize and delegate tasks to meet all operational needs, display a customer-focused mindset at all times, and ensures all team members deliver an engaging, positive, and authentic customer experience.

Other responsibilities include supporting and executing visual directives and maintaining visual standards set by the company, maintaining merchandise flow and presentation standards in the store and stockroom, maintaining a clean and organized store and stockroom, and promoting a safe working and shopping environment.

To work as an assistant store manager for PacSun, you must be at least 18 years old. You also need previous retail experience and a high school diploma or GED.

How Much Does PacSun Pay Part-Time Workers?

The hourly earnings for employees at PacSun vary because of state and city minimum wage laws. However, we can give you a general idea of what the hourly pay is for each position.

Sales Associate (Hourly)

The rate of pay for sales associates at PacSun is between $8 and $13 an hour. This is an entry-level position, so if you do not have any prior work experience, chances are you will be on the lower end of the range, close to minimum wage.

The average hourly rate for a PacSun sales associate is $9.

Lead (Hourly)

The pay range for a lead at PacSun is between $9 and $14 an hour. You must have previous retail experience and a high school diploma or GED to be hired for this position, so don’t be afraid to negotiate your hourly rate based on your experience and education.

The average hourly rate for a lead is $10 an hour.

Assistant Store Manager (Hourly)

Why should we hire you?

Why are they asking?  

If a manager asks you this question, they are trying to get you to sell yourself. A big part of your job at PacSun is to give excellent customer service and to be able to drive sales with excellent communication and product knowledge.

They are wanting to find out how well you can communicate while being positive and professional. If you can sell yourself, you can sell their products.

What’s the ideal answer?

Know your strengths. If you get asked this question, tell them how you will benefit their business. They want to hear that you are creative, have above average verbal communication skills, have a friendly and upbeat demeanor, and can successfully sell merchandise.

Tell them that you are a reliable worker who will show up to work on time for every scheduled shift. If you want a career with PacSun, definitely let them know because there are opportunities for advancement. And, their store manager and district manager positions pay very well.

What is your biggest accomplishment, and how did you achieve it?

Why are they asking?  

If an interviewer asks you this question, they want to know more about the things you find important and what you have worked hard to achieve. They don’t want their employees to be total slackers, so they are asking you this to find out what inspires you and how you spend your time.

What’s the ideal answer?

There is no specific ideal answer, it should be your own truth. If you worked for months on a school project and got an A or it won an award, that’s a great answer. If you won a scholarship, finished at the top of your class, or won an athletic trophy, that works too.

Whatever your biggest accomplishment is, that is what you should talk about. Be proud and be passionate about what you have worked to accomplish.

What would you do if you caught an employee or customer stealing?

Why are they asking?  

If an interviewer asks you this question, be careful because it’s a trick question. People tend to answer by going on and on about taking charge of the situation by either confronting the employee or customer, or maybe they would go so far as calling the police. But, that isn’t what the interviewer wants to hear.

What’s the ideal answer?

The best thing to say is that you would bring it to your supervisor’s attention or call an HR hotline to report employee theft. Companies want a situation like employee theft to go through the proper channels. They also want to make sure that you would handle this by following company policy instead of taking the matter into your own hands.

When it comes to customer theft, you always want to bring that to the attention of the manager or store security. You never want to confront a customer or chase them down. That’s a possible liability for the company.
