Claire's Interview Questions

The possible questions in a job interview are endless, and it always depends on the interviewer. But, according to current and former employees, there are some common questions that they do often ask.

Make sure to prepare for the interview by researching the company and culture and know your trends because the more you know about the company and their products, the more successful you will be at the interview.

Why do you want to work here?

Why are they asking?

Many retail stores rely on entry-level teen workers. They make an excellent first job for young people to get work experience, and there are a lot in the market to choose from. If they ask you this question, they want to know what makes Claire's stand out over other retail options.

What’s the ideal answer?

There is no wrong answer to this question. Whatever your reason is for applying at Claire's, tell them! Maybe you have a friend that works there or you love their products. Whatever your reason is for applying, just be specific and honest with your answer.

Sell this necklace to me.

Why are they asking?

If an interviewer asks you to do this, they want to see how well you can communicate with customers and how comfortable you are with selling their products.

What’s the ideal answer?

This question is all about saying the right thing to a customer to make a sale. To be prepared, consider looking over their website or visit the store before the interview to see what kind of accessories they currently have in stock. There is no wrong answer to this question, they just want to see how well you can sell their products. Think about what kind of outfit the necklace goes with, how versatile it is, and don’t forget about the affordable price.

How would you handle an irate customer?

Why are they asking?

If a manager asks you this question, they are trying to find out how you handle an unhappy customer because that does happen from time to time. This is not a common occurrence, but you do need to know that the situation is a possibility.

What’s the ideal answer?

The worst thing that you could say is that you would engage in an argument or tell the customer to leave the store. No matter how angry a customer is, you can’t do this. The best answer is to say that you would ask what you can do to make them happy. If that doesn’t work, then you would get the store manager so they could deal with the situation.
